The AI has been recalibrated in this update Age of Wonders 4 to make it smarter, more challenging, and more rewarding. It will now accurately assess what kind of strategy you're using and react accordingly. Additionally, there are now three difficulty levels for you to choose from when playing single-player mode or skirmishes: Easy, Normal, or Hard.

On the visuals front, Age of Wonders 4 looks better than ever thanks to improved lighting effects like normal mapping and ambient occlusion. A new dynamic cloud system has also been added that adds an extra layer of atmosphere as storms roll in over the horizon. It's not just about looks though - gameplay wise there are some nice touches too like improved particle effects for spells that make combat even more visually engaging.
